The Toshiba Dual-Door Tabletop Dishwasher is a compact dishwasher designed for Japanese living environments, where installation space is often limited.
To accommodate the compact kitchens common in Japan, the product adopts a space-saving folding door, enabling installation even in restricted environments. MEDUM collaborated closely with Midea’s development team, supporting the project from design research to understand Japanese food culture and daily habits, through product design, prototyping, and mass-production design support. Despite its compact footprint, the dishwasher features an inner basket capable of holding approximately 40 dishes, providing sufficient capacity for family use. The product also incorporates several unique mechanisms—including a bottle washing program, a three-level adjustable tray, and movable plate holders—allowing the interior layout to be customized to accommodate the wide variety of tableware used in Japanese dining. The product’s rounded form and front frosted glass panel create a refined presence. A minimal interface without physical buttons improves ease of daily maintenance while ensuring the appliance blends naturally into modern kitchen spaces.
